Fields of Flowers

Terry always got mad at me when we lived in Colorado for dragging him along on “wildflower hikes” only to find few, if any, wildflowers and we certainly never whole fields of flowers. He also likes to tell me that all wildflowers are planted by someone. Our trip to Wyoming last month fixed right up. So, here’s a little post for him…a reminder of all the wildflowers we found together. I don’t think any of these were planted by someone. Goof.

CarrieW - I actually thought of you the other day when I finally figured out the “back way” from my house to the local park, which requires a short trek through the wooded wetlands at the end of my road. It was totally worth all the cobwebs stuck to my face — apparently the trail isn’t used much — as on the way I saw two blue herons and when I popped out of the woods into the open field it was full of native wildflowers and lovely pollinators. You would have liked it.

Garrett Lau - Nice.

Some wildflowers are planted by people. There is a section along I-280 that has a sign that says who planted the wildflowers there. Ironically, that section has far fewer wildflowers than other sections nearby.
