Sous Chef...That's what he calls her. Its really his excuse to spoil her with little nibbles of bacon or greens (she loves greens) when I'm not looking.

Massey Monday: Snoozin'
Must be nice to be a Massey...nap time is always on the table.
Massey Monday: Happy Birthday!
This little cutie is turning 6 today. Energy level is still pretty puppy though.
Massey Monday: Saturday Morning Conversations
He's liking asking her if she's ready to go for a run. She's likely thinking why haven't we left yet?!
Massey Monday: Wine Dog
She's pretty popular at the local Monterey County wineries. And as long as she's had a morning run, she's pretty chill in the tasting rooms. Just waiting for us to finish our sips.
Massey Monday: Watching the Lake
As Terry mentioned in last week's Massey Monday, our little Brittany Spaniel likes to quickly establish the perimeter when we set up our backcountry campsites. Once that perimeter is established, she keeps a constant watch on anything and everything happening around us. During our last backpacking trip into the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, she kept watch over Island Lake.
Massey Monday: Snoozin'
She's been away from her trusted snoozin' spots for a few weeks. She spent the weekend getting reacquainted with warm sunbeams and soft blankies.
Massey Monday: And she's off...
It only takes a little noise or movement in the grass and she's off on the chase.
Massey Monday: Blur
She likes to run fast, or at least faster than my ISO is ready to capture.
Massey Monday: New Trails
Massey got to explore some new trails with us this weekend. I think she liked them.
Massey Monday: Watching the Ocean
Focused, as usual.
Massey Monday: You'll Poke Your Eye Out!
But somehow she runs through all that brushy, brambly junk at full speed unscathed. No eyes poked out yet.
Massey Monday: Fuzzball
I thought she'd just had a haircut, but she's looking a little fuzzy...maybe its just the light.
Massey Monday: Something There!
That stance and those ears...she's telling us there is something there. Probably a little tiny lizard or a field mouse or maybe a gopher got lucky and find a tunnel in which to hide. There is definitely something there.
Massey Monday: Scanning the Field
She looks so regal when she's studying a field. So calm, so serene...until an unsuspecting bird gives up its location.
Massey Monday: In the Weeds
Sometimes the grass is so tall she gets lost.
Other times she apparently has an invisible pogo stick to see over everything.
Thirsty Thursday: Ft Ord Stroll
Rambler: Beth
Drink at Hand: Newman's Limeade
Yep, its Friday, not Thursday. Ooops! We didn't get a Thirsty Thursday posted last night. In fact, it seems its been a few weeks since we've posted our regular Thursday evening babbles and pixels. We've been a bit busy, but hopefully things will settle down soon!
Back in October, when we still had the luxury of getting home from work before dark (darn daylight savings time change), we hopped over to Ft Ord with our new cameras to play around a bit. Our old cameras were stolen earlier this fall, and we both dearly missed our camera time while we waited through the replacement process. While the location was a spot we hit up a couple times a week (the dog has to run!), we enjoyed having cameras in hand, daylight, cool clouds, and watching a dog that loves her open space just as much as her owners.
Hopefully we'll have a few less clouds than we've had the last few days to get out and enjoy this weekend.
Massey Monday: In her element
Tall grass, brambles, nice light. She's a happy dog.
Massey Monday: Trail Dog
Sort of a trail dog anyway. Until a bird flutters or a pika chirps or a gopher pops its head up. Then she's off trail.
Massey Monday: Guarding
High alert.
Because the pigeons on the neighbor's roof are a real threat.
