Massey Monday: Center of Attention

Fans of Welliver Photography are well aware that we take a lot of photos of our dog. Generally, she doesn't like the paparazzi attention and runs away or turns her head the opposite direction...she's quite a slippery subject. So imagine my surprise when little Miss Massey plopped down right on top of the wildflowers I was getting ready to photograph at sunrise during our last backpacking trip like it was her job. I guess she woke up ready to model.

I had to go elsewhere to find some wildflowers.

Such a diva!

Massey Monday: Happy Camper

Massey is one heck of an awesome backpacking buddy. Our last trip to the Sierra was a little harsh on her poor little puppy pads, but she didn't complain! She just spent a lot more time resting in camp with us rather than chasing all of the pesky chipmunks, pikas, and marmots from our campsite.

Massey Monday: Queen of the Rock

Every time we go for a backpacking trip with Massey. . . she has to get to the highest point! I wonder where she gets that trait from? Must love the views from up there like somebody I know.

PS I'm pretty sure she got up there by "mountain goating" the face of it.

Massey Monday: Hiking

Massey is a little sore after this weekend's hike over miles and miles of granite (more on that in an upcoming Thirsty Thursday). But, nonetheless, even after the end of this weekend's hike, she had this same smile on her face. This shot is from our last backpacking trip to Lake George. Happy Mas!!

Massey Monday: Summertime

Nothing says summertime like sunning on a rock in the middle of an alpine lake. Massey will confirm that there's nothing better on a warm summer day in the high country than a quick dip in the cold, crystal clear lake filled with fresh mountain snow melt, followed by a sunny nap on a granite slab to dry off.

Continuing the Thirsty Thursday post from last week, here are a half dozen shots of the Mas enjoying the snow! We were at the same location this weekend and the trails were dry...no snow at all. Anyways, those shots will be coming in a future post. For now, enjoy the shots of Massey! Happy Monday!

Massey Monday: Running in the Snow

Over Memorial Day weekend we headed up to the Sierra to backpack. The Welliver Photography staff meteorologist completely blew the forecast and, given our lack of a 4-season tent, we bailed on the backpacking. Massey didn't seem to mind though. She ran her little legs off over the course of a little 4-hour hike we took through. Non-stop running for 4 hours.

Massey Monday: Silly Buddies

Massey was my dog. I drove to the middle of nowhere Texas to buy her. I held her in my lap every night when she was a puppy so she would fall asleep. Terry was so mad at me for getting a puppy. Then he met her. Now she's practically his dog. He's even taught her how to mock me.

Luckily she still curls up on my side of the bed.

Its hard to keep up with Miss Massey sometimes, even when she's sitting in the car. Her eyes are always full of intensity.

Massey is always just up the trail, patrolling the unexplored. I catch this pose a lot as I trudge along behind--ears perked, head tipped, searching for the source of a noise or a scent.

Massey had a great weekend of trail running (i.e., chasing birds, bunnies, gophers, etc). For some reason, that always leads to a lot of snuggling and snoozing in her blue blankie.
